HBO Vinyl Premiere
CLIENT: HBO Nordic
LOCATION: Oslo, Norway
ROLE: Senior Producer
YEAR PRODUCED: 2016
For their season premiere of Vinyl, HBO Nordic wanted to provide guests with an immersive experience that would connect them to the story on a level that went far beyond the television screen. Playing off their senses, we created an evening that would transport them back to an actual 1970s rock’n’roll club.
Invites were sent out as vinyl records with event details and guests’ names printed on the jacket. Upon arrival, we led guests down a dimly lit back alley and asked them to check in with the club bouncer before entering the no-thrills underground venue. As they entered, they were met with a record-shaped S&R, a polaroid photographer and a welcome drink served out of a red solo cup. We filled the screening room with grungy rugs, thrift store sofas, bar chairs and oversized bean bags.
After the screening, guests were invited down to the basement for a live rock concert showcasing local rock bands. We replaced the lights with oversized speakers, filled the room with hazy smoke and watched as guests experienced their own real-life Vinyl moment.
